Driftless keeps two narrow background jobs around governed context and commercial operations: Librarian and platform-owned source monitoring.

Librarian

The Librarian tends the knowledge graph. On a weekly sweep it produces a suggestion report: topics to promote, duplicates to merge, dead anchors to prune, and disconnected areas to link. It is an advisor by default. With librarian_autovouch enabled, high-confidence, human-authored Notes can be promoted automatically. The action is attributed and reversible, and appears in Applied for review.

Steward

The Steward monitors collection records whose source material can change. It recomputes source fingerprints on its configured cadence and opens bounded review work when a source has drifted. It does not replace the collection’s criterion or make an external write on its own.

How they run

These jobs run server-side on inference Driftless operates. Shared runtime and historical run records remain internal operational data; Driftless does not expose a customer-facing run console or roster. In the dashboard, open Settings → Background Workers to enable Librarian or Steward and configure Librarian’s Auto-merge option.
