# How do I find new customers?

> From "find me customers" to a List with the person who decides, and from there to your Contacts. Step by step, with your assistant.

Prospecting means asking for companies that could buy from you and the person who decides at each. The result is a **List**. A List is free to build; the only thing that costs is **revealing** the email of the people you choose.

<Note>
  Prospecting is on the paid plans. On Free you can talk to Ada and use Cerebro and your CRM, but not build Lists. See [credits and plans](/trust/credits).
</Note>

## The path

<Steps>
  <Step title="Ask for what you want">
    > Find me 20 plastic packaging manufacturers in Jalisco, and who decides purchasing.

    Your assistant reads your Cerebro and asks one or two questions that change the result. If you say "any industry", it does not ask about the industry.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Look at the sample">
    It shows **3 example companies** and how it understood your request. It creates nothing and charges nothing. This is the moment to correct: "only in Guadalajara", "no chains".
  </Step>

  <Step title="Build the List">
    Say "build the list". It is ready in seconds: each company with a line on why it fits and the person who decides (name and title). The email stays hidden.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Ask for the price of revealing">
    > How much does it cost to reveal the emails of this List.

    It tells you how many people, the maximum credits and your balance. **It reveals nothing yet.**
  </Step>

  <Step title="Give your yes">
    If it works for you, confirm. Each email that arrives costs **1 credit** and includes the LinkedIn. If one is not found, it is not charged. Emails arrive within minutes.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save them where you work">
    The revealed people are now your **Contacts** and their companies, your **Companies**. Ask:

    > Save these contacts in a pipeline "Alimentos NL".

    If the pipeline does not exist, it creates it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Other ways to ask

* **With companies you already have in the conversation:** "Give me who decides at these five companies" (for example, winners of a contract).
* **Just look:** "Show me my food List". You will see names, not emails.
* **Phone:** asked separately, after the email, and costs **6 credits** per person. Revealing a List never buys phone numbers.

## What it does not do

* It does not promise the list is complete: it is a sample of the market.
* It does not invent emails or look for them on the web.
* It does not verify that a company has that many branches or is hiring; if it says so, it is because it found it.
* If the data provider is unavailable, it tells you. It does not silently use another.

## Afterwards

Your contacts with an email can now receive a [Sequence](/work/sequence).
