# Clerk

> Each new user in your Clerk product creates their Contact and their Company.

## What it brings into Brein

When someone signs up for your product, Brein creates or fills in their **Contact** and their **Company** by the domain of their work email. If you ask at connect time, it also opens an **Opportunity**.

| From Clerk | Goes to |
| - | - |
| `first_name` and `last_name` | Contact name |
| User's first email | Contact email |
| User's first phone | Contact phone |

## Connect it

Clerk sends its webhooks through Svix, which signs with Standard Webhooks. Clerk generates the signing secret and you paste it in Brein.

<Steps>
  <Step title="In Brein">
    Go to **Settings → Integrations → Connect → Clerk** and copy the **address**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="In Clerk">
    In the Clerk Dashboard, open the **Webhooks** page and add an endpoint with that address. Choose the event below.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Copy the signing secret">
    Select the endpoint you created. The *Signing Secret* appears there, starting with `whsec_`. Copy it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Paste it in Brein">
    In the Integration, paste the secret and save. Until you paste it, Brein rejects every notice.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Which events to choose

Only `user.created`: a new user. The full list of Clerk events is in the **Event Catalog** tab of the Webhooks page. Brein ignores the rest.

## Limits

* Brein takes only the user's **first email** and **first phone**.
* A user who signs up only with a social account may have no email: they arrive as **no person**.
* To avoid duplicates, Brein uses the user's id, not the notice's.
