# Privacy and consent

> What a Respuesta stores, the consent it asks for, and what happens when someone opts out.

A Formulario collects personal data, so Brein keeps only what it needs and treats opt-outs as rules, not preferences.

## What a response stores

* **Answers.** What the person wrote, normalized to your fields (email, phone, URL, number, currency, date, options).
* **Context.** The page, the referrer, and any `utm_*` values — never the visitor's IP. Brein stores only a hash of the IP, so it can count submissions without identifying anyone.
* **Consent.** Whether the privacy notice was accepted, whether the marketing box was checked, the version of the notice, and the time.
* **Result.** The contact it matched or created, and which fields it filled.

## Consent

The form shows a link to **your own** privacy notice next to the consent checkbox. Brein does not supply one: a new form starts with the link empty, and you cannot publish until you add it (an `http(s)` link to your company's notice, not a trybrein.com one); publishing without it is rejected with `422` on `consent.privacyUrl`. Without the consent, the send is rejected with `422`. If you enable the marketing box, it is a separate, optional checkbox — a person can answer without agreeing to promotions.

## Opt-outs and suppression

Two different opt-outs matter:

* **Email opt-out.** If the person is on your email suppression list, the contact still reaches the CRM, but Brein never adds them to a Secuencia.
* **Data suppression.** If the person asked to have their data suppressed, nothing is stored: the Respuesta is marked as **Rechazada** and kept without personal data.

Ada and other MCP clients create forms with `form_save` and read them with `form_read`; reading lists and results never exposes email or phone. For the wider rules, see [Security](/security/overview).
