# How do I connect Brein to ChatGPT?

> Connect Brein to your ChatGPT in 5 steps and ask for your first list of customers.

With Brein connected, ChatGPT can look for customers, read your pipeline and prepare your emails. The model is your ChatGPT's; the data and the actions are Brein's.

You need a Brein account and a ChatGPT account with developer mode access.

<Note>
  Brein is not in the ChatGPT directory yet. For now you add it by hand with its address, and these are the steps.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Turn on developer mode">
    In ChatGPT open **Settings → Security and login** and turn on **Developer mode**. If you do not see it, your administrator has it off.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add Brein">
    Open `chatgpt.com/plugins`, tap **+** and paste this address:

    ```text theme={"theme":"github-light"}
    https://api.trybrein.com/mcp
    ```

    Name it **Brein**. For authentication choose **OAuth**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in to Brein">
    A Brein window opens. Sign in with your account.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick your workspace and approve">
    Brein shows what ChatGPT will be able to do. Pick your workspace and approve. You return to ChatGPT.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open a new chat and turn it on">
    In a new chat, tap **+** and turn on **Brein**. A chat that was already open does not see the new tools.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Ask this to test it

> Show me the Brein workspaces I can use and how many credits I have left.

If it answers with your workspace name and your plan, you are connected. That question only reads: it spends nothing.

Then try something valuable: [your first requests](/work/first-requests).

## If something fails

| What you see | What to do |
| - | - |
| ChatGPT cannot find the tools | Open a new chat and turn Brein on again. |
| It asks you to sign in again | Approve the connection again; the session expired. |
| You see the wrong workspace | Ask: "use the workspace named X". |
| A notice says your plan does not include that | See [credits and plans](/trust/credits). |
